Cairo Contemporary Dance Workshop Program 2008

Studio Emad Eddin Foundation has been offering its members a contemporary dance workshop program since 2006.
The Studio’s program policy is to invite each two years an artist to lead the contemporary dance workshop.

In the years 2005 & 2006, the Egyptian dancer & choreographer Karima Mansour, developed the program in collaboration with Studio Emad Eddin. Several choreographers from Europe and the Middel-East were invited to tutor the young Egyptian dancers and choreographers.

Starting 2008, Studio Emad Eddin’s contemporary dance program will be designed in collaboration with the French dancer & Choreographer Laurence Rondoni.

Cairo Contemporary Dance Workshop Program will take place over a period of one year for a maximum of 15 young Egyptian dancers and choreographers

Throughout the year, International choreographers, dancers, critics, cultural operators will be invited to tutor the participants.

Studio Emad Eddin’s contemporary dance program, ultimately aims at re enforcing the contemporary dance field in Egypt by giving tools, openings, and perspectives of development to the young generation of artists in Egypt.


Application procedures:
Dancers and Choreographers who wish to participate in the contemporary dance program have to fill an application form.

Participation Criteria :
The workshop program is open for male & female dancers and choreographers between 20 and 35 years old.
Previous experience(s) in contemporary dance is appreciated
Chosen participants will have to follow the eight different training sessions of the program held during the year 2008.
Two evaluation sessions will take place during the year.
A public presentation of the participants’ works will be organised in December 2008.
The program has been developed as a collaboration between Laurence Rondoni and Studio Emad Eddin Foundation. The choice of some guests was made with the support of Adham Hafez and ‘Haraka’ .
